What is SMC
What is
SMC?
SMC is
short for Sheet Molding Compound. It is the combination of fiber glass,
unsaturated resin and other fillers in the form of sheet. Processing SMC by
compression molding could produce all kinds of products, such as sanitary
ware, building material, electrical or electronic machine housings, indoor &
outdoor facilities, etc. With its advantages, SMC could also be used for
producing bodywork or automotive components in large industrial volumes.
What are
the main materials of SMC?
★
non-alkali fiber glass,
★
unsaturated resin,
★
aluminium hydroxide,
★
curing agent,
★
color paste, etc.
What are
the main Advantages of SMC?
★ high
strength but lighter,
★ high temperature endurable and
fire resistant,
★ moisture resistant,
★ corrosion resistant,
★ electricity insulated,
★ long service life,
★ environment friendly,
★ easy to design and shape, etc.
What are
the differences between SMC and BMC?
BMC is
short for Bulk Molding Compound.
Materials
of SMC and BMC are nearly the same. As its name implies, SMC is supplied in
sheet form, while BMC is supplied in bulk form. Compared with BMC, SMC is
higher in fiber content and could be much longer in fiber length. Therefore,
strength of SMC is higher than that of BMC. |
